Bread Ahead and Clarence Court are joining forces to bring their Future Bakers partnership to life with a new free baking event for young people in London this October.
To mark World Egg Day on Friday 9th October, Bread Ahead and Clarence Court will host the first Future Bakers Breakfast Club at Bread Ahead’s bakeries in Borough and Wembley on Saturday 10th October 2026.
The event will give young bakers the opportunity to get hands-on in the kitchen, learning how to make a white tin loaf from scratch before preparing soft-boiled eggs and the classic egg and soldiers.
The breakfast club forms part of Bread Ahead’s wider Future Bakers initiative, which aims to teach 1 million children and young people how to bake for free over the next 10 years.
Building Practical Skills Through Baking
Future Bakers was launched by Bread Ahead in May 2026, with the project already having reached 807 young bakers through its free workshops and digital learning resources.
The initiative is designed to give children and young people practical baking skills while also helping to build confidence and creativity. Bread Ahead is encouraging schools, parents, teachers and youth groups to get involved with the programme.
The longer-term target is ambitious, with Bread Ahead aiming to reach 100,000 young people by 2028, 500,000 by 2032 and ultimately 1 million by 2036.
For the new Breakfast Club, young participants will make a white tin loaf from scratch before learning how to prepare a soft-boiled egg and put together their own egg and soldiers.
Each participant will also receive a goodie bag containing a white tin loaf, an All Day Knives egg cup, a Clarence Court tea towel, an egg box voucher and recipe cards.
Free Workshops Across Two Bread Ahead Bakeries
The Future Bakers Breakfast Club will take place at both Bread Ahead Borough and Bread Ahead Wembley on Saturday 10th October.
There will be three sessions at each location:
- 9:30am–11:00am
- 12:00pm–1:30pm
- 3:00pm–4:30pm
Each session will have 12 places, giving 72 young bakers the opportunity to take part across the two bakeries.
Places are free, with families able to register through the Bread Ahead and Clarence Court newsletters. The release states that families can book one workshop per family.
The Clarence Court newsletter will open bookings on Saturday 19th September, followed by Bread Ahead’s newsletter on Thursday 24th September.
Bringing Baking Into the Home
The project will also extend beyond the two London bakeries.
From 10 October, Bread Ahead and Clarence Court will make a free Future Bakers Breakfast Club bake-along video available online, allowing young people to follow the recipe and baking process at home.
There will also be a competition for young bakers, with eligible entries having the opportunity to win a Clarence Court egg box voucher. Entries can be submitted through a trusted adult’s Instagram account using #FutureBakersBreakfastClub and tagging the two participating brands.
A Partnership Focused on Food Education
For Bread Ahead founder Matthew Jones, the initiative reflects the wider purpose behind Future Bakers and the role practical food skills can play in building confidence.
Jones says his own route into the baking industry began after leaving school at 16, making the opportunity to introduce young people to baking particularly meaningful.
The partnership with Clarence Court provides another way for Bread Ahead to bring the Future Bakers programme to a wider audience, combining hands-on workshops with resources that families can use at home.
With the project already having reached more than 800 young bakers since launching earlier this year, the Breakfast Club is another step towards Bread Ahead’s longer-term ambition of making baking education accessible to a much larger number of young people.
