From Emilia-Romagna to Capri, ALFI’s Pasta Passport takes pasta lovers on a five-stop journey around Italy, with hands-on pasta-making workshops throughout October.
This October, independent Italian restaurant ALFI is turning its attention to one of Italy’s most celebrated staples as it launches a month-long programme of pasta-making workshops across London.
Based in the heart of Spitalfields Market, ALFI is celebrating Pasta Month and National Pasta Day on Saturday 17 October with its new Pasta Passport, giving pasta lovers the chance to travel through Italy one pasta shape at a time.
The five-stop programme takes participants from Emilia-Romagna to Tuscany, Sicily, Amalfi and Capri, with each workshop focusing on traditional pasta shapes and techniques from the region.
The programme includes nine different pasta shapes across five workshops, all made by hand with guidance from the ALFI team.

The Pasta Month programme begins in Emilia-Romagna before travelling through several of Italy’s best-known food regions.
3 October – Emilia-Romagna
3pm–5pm | Tagliatelle & Strozzapreti | £48pp
The first stop is Emilia-Romagna, often regarded as Italy’s pasta heartland. Guests will learn to make handmade tagliatelle and strozzapreti from scratch.
11 October – Tuscany
1pm–3pm | Pici & Maltagliati | £48pp
The second workshop heads to Tuscany, where participants will learn to make hand-rolled pici and rustic, irregular maltagliati.
17 October – Sicily
3pm–5pm | Busiate & Casarecce | £48pp
The Sicily workshop coincides with National Pasta Day on 17 October and will focus on two traditional shapes: busiate and casarecce.
23 October – Amalfi
7pm–9pm | Maccheroni al Ferretto | £48pp
The programme then moves to the Amalfi coast, with participants learning to shape maccheroni al ferretto by hand using a traditional thin rod to create its distinctive hollow centre.
31 October – Capri
3pm–5pm | Lemon & Ricotta Ravioli | £48pp
The final stop is Capri, where guests will make lemon and ricotta ravioli inspired by the island’s famous citrus groves and Mediterranean flavours.
Learning Pasta-Making From Scratch
Each two-hour workshop includes a welcome glass of Prosecco, ingredients and equipment, along with guidance from the ALFI team.
Participants will make their pasta from scratch and can take their creations home to enjoy and recreate themselves.
The workshops are designed for both beginners and more experienced cooks, with no previous pasta-making experience required.
For ALFI co-founders Ben and Alex, the popularity of the restaurant’s workshops made pasta a natural focus for October.
“There’s something about making pasta by hand that people really connect with. It’s a skill you can take home and do again and again, whether you’re cooking for family, friends or just yourself.”
The pair say the Pasta Passport was created to give people the opportunity to explore different pasta traditions from across Italy without leaving Spitalfields.
ALFI’s Pasta Passport
For those wanting to take part in the full programme, ALFI’s Pasta Passport provides entry to all five Pasta Month classes for £200 per person, representing a saving compared with booking each workshop individually.
Guests can also add ALFI’s Pasta & Pour wine pairing on the day, with wines matched to the region and pasta shapes being explored.
The restaurant says the workshops are part of its wider programme of creative experiences, which also includes Paint & Sip, Scented Candle Making, Cocktail Making and Sip & Bouquet.
A Taste of Italy in Spitalfields
While ALFI is best known for its handcrafted Neapolitan pizza, the restaurant also serves fresh pasta, Italian favourites, seasonal dishes, organic and naturally made wines and cocktails.
Its signature pizza dough is made using a 36-hour cold fermentation process and 80% hydration, while the venue also features a large covered outdoor terrace and two private dining rooms.
The Pasta Month programme adds another element to ALFI’s growing calendar of food and creative experiences, giving visitors the opportunity to learn new skills alongside enjoying its food and drink offering.
With five workshops taking place throughout October, the Pasta Passport provides a way for participants to explore different regional pasta traditions while learning techniques they can continue using at home.
